elements

I am interested in edges and borders, the things that exist in a liminal space.  The edges of things are the most interesting, where we can discover insights about ourselves, about the world around us. Were we realize that the closer we look, the more those borders fall away. Sunsets are not just about breathtaking colors; here on the coast, they are the fusion of the elements, heralding the end of the day, the beginning of the night. Water flows out. Fire eats up. Air surrounds. Earth supports.

This is a more emotional and experimental series for me than my past efforts. Relying more on my subjective associations with color and form, I wanted to play with the tensions between the elements. After a fall of record breaking fires and a winter of epic storms, even the elements themselves seem to hold paradoxes within.
